Annual Arts Festival at Dawson city- Parade

Diamond Tooth Gerties- Casino and show at Dawson city

Our city tour guide who showed us around few buildings in Dawson city and told us some fringing ghost stories!

Views from the Midnight Sun dome. The name comes from the story that people once try to gather at the dome to watch the midnight sun together. Songs were sung, poetry were read, drinks were pour- but the sun set before the midnight that day!

These horns are remnant of two moose fighting during mating season. They locked themselves so tightly that they were not able to part!

July 29: Medicine Hat Stampede

Amazingly trained dogs

I think their team name is "Crazy horse women." They can stand, flip, stand up-side down on horses.

Cowboy riding wild (angered) horses

Cowgirl competition to make turns around obstacles in shortest distance

Rodeo Queens and Princesses from nearby towns and other rodeo competitions

Note the flowery shirt

July 27-28: Calgary city downtown, Olympic Park and DrumHeller (Dinosaur Town)

Drumheller- this is the world's largest dinosaur. It really is HUGE! In the museum nearby, there is a real dinosaur fossil that is I believe the largest in the world (a T-rex).

At every corner, there would be a dinosaur about the size of two human beings used as store signage or simply pure esthetic props. Playing at the public water park was fun and a life-saver on that hot day.

Olympic Park- I need more angle

Calgary Downtown area

July 26: Medicine Hat and Dinosaur Park of Alberta

This is known as the Badland in Alberta where the dinosaurs used to run freely.

Interesting chairs in the McDonald's Restaurant of Brook.

The largest Tipi in the world in Medicine Hat. It was built for the Olympic in Calgary and later retired to Medicine Hat.

July 25: Great Sand Hills, Saskatchewan and Cypress Hill Alberta

Cypress Hills Park on the Alberta side- this interprovincial park is known for its reserved land for star viewing. The Saskatchewan side cost money to enter the park and is more of a resort than natural park. On the other hand, the Albertan side is free hence I chose to go there.

Amazing landscape with free-roaming cows.

This is what I do when I take a break from driving.

This is a strange animal that I have not figured out what it is. It has horns like a deer, but runs like a dog.

The Great Sand Hills is the second largest active sand dunes in Canada next to the Athabasca sand dunes. Nevertheless, it is interesting how people who live mere 100 km away from it have never heard of it and needless to say people from other places of the province!

It took us great deal of stamina to drive up to Leader, finding a B&B notwithstanding a provincial baseball tournament in town, and finally, find the road by following the instructions of an elderly mother. Great drive up, though there is not much to do at the sand hills if you don't have a board to slide down!
